My Spiritual Solo Travel Experience
There are many things I believe we can do for personal growth and solo travel is one. I am a 31 year old woman and have never spent more than a couple of days traveling on my own before.
I am and always have been very independent and have no issues going to events or similar on my own but an opportunity for solo travel was never something that had crossed my path before. Not because I didn’t want to but because I guess I never really saw the need to.
And then I was diagnosed with cancer. When I began my chemotherapy treatment, on the second appointment I took with me a Conde Nast magazine and began to dream. There was a tiny little picture of Bali at the back of the magazine and knowing a little bit about the Indonesian island I set my heart on it.
Bali became my vision throughout the rest of my journey. It almost became the end point for me. When I had finished treatment and was recovering from surgery it was becoming more real and the time to book it was nearing. However, at this time we were facing another surge of Coronavirus and I had no idea when I would be able to travel again as Bali was not letting people in easily. I knew the second I was able to I would be booking those flights. Everytime my friends saw me they were asking if I’d booked them yet!
I was both excited and nervous about the thought of traveling on my own. I love exploring places on my own because you never know where you might be taken or what opportunities might arise. But I was also nervous because it meant eating alone for three weeks and while I was my only responsibility I also had to take responsibility for myself. I had to live with my own mind for three weeks. I imagine this is why a lot of people are put off solo travel, you have to be with yourself and most people don’t actually like themselves.
However, I was learning to love myself thanks to my awakening and this journey was a three week date with me. Of course while I was there I was bound to make friends, some of whom I know will be friends for life. But ultimately this trip allowed me to get so much closer to myself.
One of my main goals in life now isn’t the million dollar company it is knowing who I am, what I am and being my own source of happiness, safety and comfort. I believe that if we can learn to give ourselves the love we crave from others we are going to experience joy like you wouldn’t imagine.
My trip didn’t happen without its issues, I was offered lessons and miracles throughout which you can learn about on my video or podcast ‘Lessons from Solo Travel with a Spiritual Edge.’
My Lessons From Solo Travel
A few of my more memorable lessons were how a habit of mine previously has been to numb pain and distract myself through lifes I was faced with a desire to not drink alcohol alone.
Another was the beautiful lesson of surrender. I had planned all of my hotels and stops before traveling so I wouldn’t have to worry while I was in Bali. I arrived at one hotel and it was a disaster (watch the video) but I was guided every step of the way. I got my ego out of the way of my intuition and allowed myself to be led on one of the most magical experiences.
I had some issues with panic attacks and emotions in the middle of my trip but I allowed them to happen and listened to my inner self knowing that I was releasing deep trauma and pain.
I knew I wanted the trip to be healing and spiritual and it was in every moment. I set the vision, released expectations and ultimately had the most magical experience. My awareness grew and I know I will never be the same woman again.
While I know I am on a forever journey of healing and self discovery this trip brought me closer as I learned profound lessons. It also offered me a glimpse into my future as throughout my meditations I was offered guidance on where I can help in the healing of myself and others.
An Invitation for Your Highest
I want to offer you an opportunity to take the plunge and do something you know will help you on your personal growth journey. Something that will challenge you and bring you closer to your higher self. It could be solo travel, perhaps getting out of your comfort zone and learning a new skill or taking your own healing journey in hand.
I’d now like to extend two invitations to you; firstly I’d like to offer you an opportunity to expand your own visio to the future and complete the ‘Design Your Legacy’ worksheet. This worksheet alone could offer you guidance on how you can begin to live your best life. My other invitation is that if you’re curious about coaching and how it can help you, I am now offering group coaching calls that give you the opportunity to ask a question and experience some ‘spot’ coaching from myself. I really believe that everyone should experience coaching on their growth journey to develop deeper insight and these group coaching sessions are extremely powerful. You can learn more about the worksheet and group coaching sessions below.
